Scottish TikTok Star Calum MacPhail Returns to Ireland for Highly Anticipated Second Irish Tour

Fresh off the viral success of his first Irish tour, Scottish TikTok sensation Calum MacPhail is making his return to Ireland for a second promotional tour from 30th January to 6th February 2025.

Continuing to grow his presence on Spotify and social media, with hundreds of thousands of likes from fans on TikTok and recent radio airplay across Ireland for his hit songs ‘Bonnie Wee Jeannie’ and ‘Róisín’, Calum is now firmly focused on expanding his career into the Irish country and folk scene where he’ll be performing in venues up and down the country this February. Calum has also just been announced as the special guest for The Tumbling Paddies in the 3Olympia Theatre, Dublin on 6th February.

During his debut tour last November, Calum wowed Irish audiences, with one particularly memorable performance at Charlie’s Bar in Enniskillen. A video of Calum performing his hit song ‘Bonnie Wee Jeannie’ alongside a young group of Irish dancers went viral on TikTok, racking up over 200,000 views online and earning a feature from Tourism Ireland. “I’ve followed Charlie’s Bar on TikTok for ages, so to go viral myself performing my own song in it was something I will never forget! I loved my trip to Ireland in November, I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to come back again so soon” said Calum.

Another highlight of the tour saw Calum bring his music directly to the Irish country fans themselves, performing an impromptu acoustic session at a jiver-cise class in Donegal. With his accordion in hand and a room full of dancers, Calum got to see first hand the love for Irish country music. “The reaction was just incredible, the dancers had no idea I was going to be there, and within 2 minutes they had new routines made up for my songs. The support has been overwhelming since. From the jiving lessons to the impromptu sessions, it was an unforgettable trip. I’m so excited to share more music and have more craic with you all soon.”

Calum’s return tour also serves as a preview for a series of summer performances across Ireland and the release of his upcoming album, featuring a mix of his own songs and covers of Irish favourites. “I’ll be covering a beautiful wee number from Ye Vagabonds, a few from Derek Ryan and even a track by The Cranberries.”

From a young age, Calum MacPhail had music coursing through his veins, growing up with a father who played Scottish and Irish folk tunes. It was at the tender age of 6 that Calum asked Santa for an accordion, inspired by a televised Scottish music programme. That Christmas, his wish came true, and he hasn’t looked back since.

“Seeing various Irish musicians in concert growing up really opened my eyes to a different way of making music and having fun with it,” Calum recalls. “I grew up listening to my dad play guitar and singing folk music. The first time I ever played in public was in a bar where they passed around a pint glass and I walked away with around £70!”

Despite his Scottish roots, Calum’s love for Irish culture is clear. “I’ve always loved the accent, the craic, the sports and, of course, the songs. In fact, I probably sing more Irish folk songs than Scottish ones!”

The accordion has become central to Calum’s sound, blending the traditions of both Scottish and Irish music. Calum has already made a name for himself by collaborating with well-known Irish artists. In addition to his Irish appearances, Calum is set to join Derek Ryan’s ‘Beat in the Heat’ trip to Torremolinos, Spain, from 24th – 30th May 2025. Sharing the stage with country music stars like fellow Scottish success Lisa McHugh and Irish legend Philomena Begley.
